The United States is one of the countries in which the female education appeared first. The female higher education of the United States plays an important part of female educational history of the world and its development has gone through stages of sprout and generation, growth and development, reflection and advance. Contemporary female higher education of the U.S. conducted a far-reaching curriculum reform, which highlights the interaction between feminist thought and higher education, reflecting the characteristics of female higher education in the U.S. The development of female higher education in the U.S. is motivated by culture, politics, economy and society and it enriches the content of higher education, improves the higher educational system, and effectively promotes gender equality and social progress. However, there are also problems, such as class constraint, racial discrimination and regional imbalance. There are significant differences in the economic and cultural background, development mode and path of female higher education between China and the U.S. At present, to reform and improve the Chinese female higher education, it is necessary to learn from the U.S to improve management, to promote the transformation of functions of women's higher education and intensify the reform of women's higher education system.
