Virtual simulation training system is the application results of the simulation system intraining and education, is a method of using computer simulation technology in virtualenvironment for the purpose of training and teaching system. As a new teaching media, it hasbeen widely applied to teaching.Nowadays, the virtual simulation training systems are mainly designed from a technicalperspective. Rich sound, animation and video materials are used to construct virtual teachingenvironment. However, the learners' burden is not taken into account in the virtual simulationtraining system.The origin of cognitive load theory and the cognitive theory of multimedia learning isintroduced, and the development and research status of them are discussed. The application ofcognitive load theory and the cognitive theory of multimedia learning in teaching design areexplored. At the same time, the virtual reality technology, its research situation and the effectin education and training are introduced.Based on design of cognitive load theory of virtual simulation training system, thecharacteristics of virtual simulation training system are analyzed, the virtual trainingsimulation system design of four teaching principles is elaborated, the simulation trainingsystem design framework is structured. According to learning characteristics of learners withdifferent antecedent knowledge, the three training modes of virtual simulation training systemare put forward, which are training, evaluating and demonstrating modes. In accordance withthe learner, nine principles are sum up to instruct the process of using cognitive load theory,and guide the design of the simulation training system. By reducing the learners' intrinsiccognitive load, reducing extraneous cognitive load, and increasing germane cognitive loadtimely, learners could make full use of the limited cognitive resources to obtain better learningeffect.On the basis of nine principles, the simulation and training system for fixing operation isdesigned. After full consideration of the learners' learning needs, the system introduces threekinds of teaching modes for different learners teaching process, including demonstration,evaluation, and training. And the learners' cognitive load had been considered in the design ofdifferent patterns, so as to avoid the learners' additional cognitive load in training, and ensurethe learning efficiency and teaching effect.
