Health, power and beauty have become the human beings'highest pursuit of body development. It has become more and more important for people to have a healthy body with a good figure and excellent psychological quality. Middle school stage is the physical golden period for students, therefore, the physique class is an effective curriculum for middle school students to cultivate the correct posture, shape the body, at the same time, to conduct aesthetic education and promote the mental health. School-based curricula are a very important embodiment of characteristic school education, which meet the students'needs according to their own characteristics based on the school education philosophy as well as educational purposes.The research takes the school-based physique curriculum in Beijing No.12Middle School as the object of study, adopting the method of documentaries, questionnaires, expert interview and case study, discussing the course background, guiding idea, pedagogical theory and teaching goal, course setting and teaching methods as well. We have conducted the research on the body posture, cooperation consciousness, creativity, the degree of satisfaction and other aspects of123students for a year and have obtained the important data and research results of the practical effect of this school-based curriculum. This study will have a positive effect on promoting the teaching quality of the physique curriculum.The results have shown that Beijing No.12Middle School has a certain advantage to set up the physique curriculum. The first grade school-based physique curriculum concept reflects the school mission fully, but also meets the requirements of the New Curriculum Reform. The course objectives, contents and arrangement accord with students'physiological and psychological characteristics, which can meet their needs to correct the posture, exercise the body and enhance their physical and natural beauty, thus enhance their team awareness and creativity. The research also shows that teaching methods can stimulate the learning enthusiasm and interests. This curriculum has achieved the anticipated objectives. The students have mastered the basic methods in physical exercise though choreographing exercises and group dance, and improved their physical shape, posture coordination, creativity and team cooperation consciousness significantly.
