A Study Of Using Interactive White Board In English Remedial Teaching In Elementary Schools

This study aimed to examine the effects of using the Interactive Whiteboard (IWB) in Englishremedial teaching on underachieving elementary school students in terms of their English learningachievement and English learning motivation. It is a case study to practice English remedial teaching on theunderachievers. The subjects came from the students in the6th grade of Wenhua Elementary School inZhengzhou. Five students were chosen,training in12classes totally in3weeks.Researchers recorded all the teaching activity in remedial teaching in the type of video and tape,andrecorded and analyzed the entire teaching in accordance with the teaching observed data and theresearchers teaching reflection; also refered to students' English learning achievement "and" EnglishLearning Motivation Scalesuch"such kind of information to analyze the results of remedial instruction. Andaccording to the teaching process, teaching results, the response from the students researchers analyzed thesuitability in the interactive whiteboard which is used in the English language remedial teaching and theteaching mode of learning activities.The major conclusions drawn from this study are as follows:1.Underachievers of this study made improvement in vocabulary, phonics, grammar and conversationrecognition.2.Underachievers' English learning motivation changed positively after the remedial teaching.3.It is necessary to conduct the English remedial teaching for the6th grade underachievers inelementary schools.4.Through the IWB research, researcher got reflection constantly on how to create the value from theteaching.Results of the study indicated that English remedial teaching improves underachievers' Englishperformances. Besides, most of the students showed the positive attitude and preferred the usage of IWB inEnglish classes. And suggestions for practicing English remedial teaching and for future studies werepresented.
