Since the21century, science and technology have developed rapidly, and the competition in talentshas become the core competition in each country. Education is the foundation of talent training, so allcountries are paying more and more attention to it. In recent years, a global wave of basic education reformhas raised. China also began it in2001, it 's the eighth reform since the foundation of our country. Thecore task of the new curriculum reform is to develop the students' spirit of innovation and practical ability,to change the study method of the students and the teaching method of teachers, to advocate the inquirylearning. In2003, China's ministry of education issued "the ordinary high school biology course standard(tests)", one of the basic concept is to advocate inquiry learning as well. Exploring study has become ahot issue in the basic education field inevitably.The new curriculum reform has been carried out in Henan for four years since2008. What's the effectof the new curriculum reform? Is inquiry teaching carried out indeed? These problems are important factorsin evaluating the effects of high school curriculum reform. So it's very necessary to promote a survey aboutthe current situation of the inquiry teaching. Only based on the aware of the status quo can we find out theproblems and then solve them. It also can offer advice for how to carry out curriculum reform better in thefuture. The aim of this thesis is getting aware of and improve the current situation of inquiry teaching.Therefore the author learned the basic theory, then designed a questionnaire, and interviewed the teachers,and immersed in the class to feel. The student questionnaire refers to four aspects, they are: theimplemental environment, weather does the inquiry teaching carry out or not, what is the level and what'sthe stumbling block. The four aspects are increasingly deepened to find out the problem. The author has putforward some feasible countermeasures and hope they are helpful for teachers' professional developmentand can be work reference in deepening the curriculum reform.On the foundation of the investigation and the observation, the author has found out that the currentsituation of inquiry teaching is not optimistic. First, the students' number is too large in each class, and thelaboratories are not equipped perfect, they would stop inquiry teaching from carrying out widely. Due tothe lack of funds and the population problem, small-class teaching can not be achieved and the laboratories can not be full-equipped in a short time. It is a problem to carry out inquiry teaching effectively in thiscontext. Second, the inquiry teaching has such weaknesses as the invariability of its form, the unreasonableof its design methods, the lack of teacher's effective guidance, the imperfection of evaluation mechanism,students are lack of enthusiasm in explore activities and lack of inquisition ability. The author consulted alarge number of literature, and then put forward some solutions corresponding to promote inquiry teachingcarry out better.
