The most important and specific goal of the new national basic education curriculum reform is to change the passive way of learning and repeated drills that universally exist nowadays among students and to promote students to participate in the inquiry-based learning. Well,in what kind of situation is the inquiry-based learning in senior high school biology teaching on earth? In order to understand the current situation of teachers' cognition and students' learning in the process of inquiry-based learning, the author conducts survey about high school students' learning situation and teachers' cognition through questionnaire, which is based on the conception, theory and historic evolution. The results showed that high school students are very interested in inquiry-based learning of biology, and they have the basic ability of doing experiments, but this ability is still far from the ability required by the current curriculum standards(such as using mathematical methods to deal with data). The consciousness of exploration is very weak among high school students, and the ability of questioning and innovation is still very low. There are still many difficulties in the implementation of inquiry-based teaching of biology. For example, the teachers' and students' probing ability is very low;the facilities and medicines required for probing is not sufficient, teachers have to teach too many classes;the workload is heavy and time is limited.Biology teachers worry that spending too much time on inquiry-based teaching will reduce students to low scores,so they give up or reduce the opportunity of the students working by hand.To solve these problems, the author put forward five solutions about the inquiry-based teaching.1.Improving biology teachers' probing quality 2.Establishing harmonious democratic and equal environment that is proper for the students' probing 3.Reforming current large-scale classes 4.Reducing the load of teachers 5.Constructing the system of incentive fit for the inquiry-based learning of senior high biology.
