In2001, Ministry of Education issued Standard of English Courses, which advocated and suggested TBLT in the process of teaching. In nearly two decades of development, TBLT has tended be mature. It emphasized "learning by doing" principle in order to improve students'study enthusiasm and language skill through task activities.This thesis mainly applied TBLT method into the primary school English, which was designed to test whether it can improve students'speaking proficiency through interest improvement, potentials excavation and self-confidence establishment. Firstly, this thesis claimed that the characteristic of TBLT, design principles and the roles of teachers in English class. Secondly, TBTL method was applied into oral English class. The experimental subjects are the35students of grade four in a primary school in Beijing. The experiment lasted four4months. During the process of experiment, the experimental subject accepted two tests, two pieces of questionnaires and an interview. A comprehensive research was done through the three instruments.The results of the study showed that:(1) Based on the two questionnaires, students had a significant improvement and progress in interest, motivation and confidence. The second section of the second questionnaire results told us that the vast majority of the students like TBLT and the way in which task activities were performed. Through this approach, the students'interest in English was more and more intense. Meanwhile, the relationship between each other became more intimate than before as well as the atmosphere in class.(2) From the perspective of pre-test and post-test, the achievement of students' academic performance has changed apparently. They have made great progress in the four aspects such as fluency, pronunciation accuracy, expressive contents and degree of grammatical accuracy.(3) Group activity and incentive mechanism played an essential role in completing the task of teachingBecause of the constraints of objective conditions, the experiment in the process of implementation also had some limitations. In conclusion part, the researcher proposed some advices and suggestions to foreign language teaching.
