Note-taking strategy refers to a process of complex thinking and expression, in which the students process the information of a lesson from perception, self understanding, and comprehensive analysis to the final formulation of words. Senior high students have gained a heightened sense of abstract logical thinking, and in this period of important development, note-taking strategy is extremely helpful to improve the ability of autonomous learning, and life-long learning.The results of the survey conducted in the paper show that the senior high students are generally aware of the importance of note-taking in their English studies, and have a positive attitude towards note-taking in class, but their attention allocation and the review of notes needs to be strengthened. The results of the survey also show the scores gained by the students in the key school are significantly higher than those in the other two schools in the aspects of the students' attitude, goal structure, the forms of note-taking, and the use of the notes; the boys scored much lower than the female students in all the five respects related to English note-taking strategy; the senior one students hold a more positive attitude toward note-taking than the students in the other two grades, while the senior three students handle attention allocation between lessons and note-taking better, their expectation from note-taking tends to be higher, and they sort out their notes more frequently after class. It is also showed that the senior two students scored lowest in the use of note-taking strategy. However, notes review after class has a great influence on the students'achievements in English studies, while the students'English level determines the students'ability of attention distribution. The paper concludes that the method and strength of teacher's guidance in note-taking strategy should be improved.Based on the findings, some suggestions had been put forward to help students to improve their note-taking strategies, which aim to promote the English teaching reform, and promote the overall development of the students.
