With the rapid development of infrastructure construction in our country, the function of projects is getting consummate. Meanwhile the construction process is becoming much more complicated than ever before. Particularly as new technology, construction materials and equipments have been introduced into infrastructure projects, China has already reached the leading role in international market in many construction fields. Although there is always a single engineering project, the scale is very sizeable, so it is becoming impossible for individual construction enterprise to accomplish all of tasks required by this project. From above point, it is therefore inevitable to introduce subcontractor to involve this project.With the perspective of general contractor, taking subcontractor's performance during the construction process in engineering projects in our country as studying objective and with regarding to current status and existing problems in subcontractor, the essay is to study the characterization of subcontractor and necessity of subcontractor existing, examine how to guide and manage the performance of subcontractor with the aim of making subcontractor rationalized, legitimized, standardized and put the advantages intrinsic in subcontractor optimized at large as a result of create much more value for infrastructure building than ever before.Being as the management personnel of general contractor, we in order to make subcontractor management job good shall make efforts in following aspects.1. Strength the study of national laws, regulations and local administrative regulation so as to improve the acknowledge level in respect of laws; 2. Follow strictly the rule of law and avoid "rule by man" and do the work according to the feeling and scrutinize introduction of subcontractor; 3. Intensify the communication with subcontractor and keep the subcontractor at the same level of general contractor so as to prevent the isolation of the people; 4. Manage subcontractor strictly according to the subcontract, not shirk duties and obligations to subcontractor nor lower the requirement for subcontractor; 5. Be familiar with each activity conducted by subcontractor, especially know internal management of subcontractor easy to be overlooked which is proved to be the source of problem,6. Feel with much more confidence about subcontractor once subcontractor is introduced, treat subcontractor with patience once the problem occurs and render the support at maximum limitation to keep subcontractor back on right track, not waiver subcontractor until you have to do.There are laws to abide by and laws to strictly observe. With the essential of national laws, regulation and local administrative regulations, with the help of subcontract management measures, it is strictly to manage subcontractor. Doing like this, make subcontractor inject full vitality on new development of general contractor so as to make a great contribution to the infrastructure development for our country.
