In the background of the global financial crisis, all of the countries are facing energy shortages and the pressure of rapidly rising energy prices, in order to ensure energy security, it is an important action or a strategic choice for countries to develop new energy sources . It is the common acknowledgement for all the countries to implement energy conservation, develop low-carbon economy and achieve a low carbon economy .How to develop and use new energy sources and how to develop new energy industry for fostering new economic growth after financial crisis, Which is the new competitive hotspots in the world economy. Over the years, all the countries in the world are working hard to give the new energy industry considerable attention by goal leading, policies incentives, industry support, financial support and other measures .Europe, America, Japan and other countries start new energy ,such as wind energy, nuclear, solar, biomass, ocean energy. However, due to the limitation of development conditions, wind energy and nuclear power only served as a supplementary energy. Bio-energy is limited by the food restrictions and cannot have a big space of development. Ocean energy is on the research and scientists have huge different opinions about it. And solar energy has many advantages ,such as high hot ration, high-impact, practical, widely popular, free high technology, fast returns and so on. Therefore, solar energy is very popular in recent years. It is widely accepted by international energy experts that solar energy is the most promising alternative energy sources. It is enough to meet all the need for the human if we can use 5% of the light and heat which is reached in the land. What's more, it is clean and pollution-free.Because of geographical location, our country is rich in solar energy resources. Many parts of China reach the annual volume in more than 2000 hours of sunshine The solar radiation which is received in our country is equivalent to tens of thousands of the Three Gorges project's capacity. Although sunshine is rich, the development and utilization of solar energy resources is very limited and lag-off. There is still a gap compared with other countries in the world about the level of development. We should seize the advantage of our natural resources and retain solar energy resources, promote the "sunshine economy", and led China's economic development.Under all of the pressures such as depletion of traditional energy sources, addressing global climate change, developing low carbon economy, In order to better carry the responsibility and mission, Yunnan Province have to achieve energy structure of the leaps and bounds, take full advantage of solar energy industry. Because it has unique advantage in nature resources. In this paper, the author adopt Porter's classic "diamond" model as the analytical framework, analyze the competitiveness of solar energy industry in Yunnan status. We use annual sunshine hours, annual radiation, polysilicon production, water heaters penetration, fixed investment of state-owned energy industry, R&D, number of employees and expenditures and other indicators to be the solar industry level variables. We choose 13 different provinces such as Gansu, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Tibet, Shanxi, Qinghai, Shandong, Yunnan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Guizhou and Guangxi as variables. And use cluster analysis to anlyze it. Through analyzing problems and shortcomings faced when developing Yunnan Province's solar industry, and trying to find out the development mode and path of the development which has the characteristics of Yunnan Province. Proposing some feasible suggestion for developing solar energy industry in Yunnan Province. Promoting the development of solar energy industry and other new energy industry in Yunnan Province of development, further strengthen the energy industries as the leading industry and focus on research in advance, dynamic and operational. Providing advise for making the right solar energy industry developing policy and development planning.
