China and Myanmar are close neighbors, they are continuously contact since the time immemorial. The two countries are constantly engaged in cultural exchange for thousands of years. Water-Sprinkling Festival is the common festival of the Dai people who is living in Yunnan, China and the people of Myanmar. It's named "Sang Khan Bi Mai" in China and known as "Mahar Thingyan" in Myanmar. In fact, both traditional festivals have a common origin. It's introduced in Dai region of China in the end of 12 century to 13 century, which was passed through Myanmar along with the introduction of Buddhism. Because of different nation and local development, and the combination of traditional activities and local culture, produces many variations. The legends combined with the local culture and become different.But the cultural meaning of Water-Sprinkling Festival has been retained and reveals many consistency. This thesis research the similarities and the differences of China and Myanmar's Water-Sprinkling Festival and make comparison to analyze the differences between the two Culture of Festival.
