Research On The Changes Of Urban Residents' Consumption Lifestyle In The Guangxi Beibu-Gulf Economic Zone (1950-2010)

Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone has been developing rapidly economic growth in recent years. The GDP of Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone has reached at 3021.73 billion yuan, which accounts for the investigation of GDP about 31.8% in Guangxi region while it accounts for the total area of Guangxi about only 17.96%. Among them in this paper the three cities of Beihai City and Fangchenggang City and Qinzhou City are of total 1221.4 billion yuan in GDP which accounts for the investigation of GDP about 31.8% in Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone. It serves to show that these three economic pillars have a pivotal role on the economic development of the Beibu-Gulf economic zone. But the main contributions of economic growth of the three cities are from investment and government investment, while consumption is still pulling power shortage, such as in 2009 the social fixed assets investment had the growth of 59.69%, and the narrow consumption rate just 29.52%.And currently expanding domestic demand is the main way to economic recovery after crisis era in world, but also the major government policy in China.So this thesis paper tries to study the changes path of the region's urban residents' consumption lifestyle, the contribution of the level of Urban residents' consumption for the economic development level for the government departments of the Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone which have a macro economic decisions and social consumption policies, and to promote the social economic development and urban residents'income of Guangxi and the Beibu-Gulf economic zone, and the general level of the consumption life with continuous progress, then to provide the reference to the excavation and ascension for the national economic zone.In the first part, this thesis paper does the background analysis of the economic conditions of Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone and the city's residents'economy incomes of the three Big City(Beihai City and Fangchenggang City and Qinzhou City). From on macroscopic angle this paper analyzes the economic system change and economic development level of Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone (1950--2010); From the microscopic angle it analyzes on the urban residents'income level and consumption level, and the change and development of urban residents Engel's Coefficient changes. In the second part this paper analyzes the changes of urban residents'consumption lifestyle which was based on the social economic changes of Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone. And the changes of urban residents'consumption life has been experienced from a planned economy period (1950--1978) and gradually reform and developing of market economy period (1979--2001) to the WTO accession of market economy period (2002--2010). Firstly, the society construction condition of Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone was very poor in the planned economy period (1950--1978), and the economic development level was low, the urban residents of Beibu-Gulf economic zone had the traditional consumption culture in this period, which the consumption lifestyle was at a result of single, mainly lower level and public spending, and whose consumption structure level was low. Secondly, the economy of Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone had gradually developed in the gradually reform and developing of market economy period (1979--2001), and the level of economy had greater developed, the consumption life of urban residents also had changed greatly, which economic structure had gradually optimized. The urban residents'consumption level of the Beibu-Gulf economic zone increased significantly, whose consumption structure started from lowly to highly, whose consumption lifestyle had started from the states for clothing over a long period of time to well-off transition state. Thirdly, the economy of Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone has been expanding from domestic regional market to the China-Asean market after entering the market economy period (2002--2010), and has developed more rapidly, which the urban residents'economy capacity and consumption ability will also promote quickly, and their consumption idea also changes and their modern consumption culture has been gradually developed.The paper also analyzes the impact factors on the changes of the urban residents of Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone. In this paper, the improvement of urban residents' income level of the region will promote its consumption lifestyle, and makes the enterprise development of urban residents' income and consumption expenditure of empirical studies. Meanwhile various factors about the decline of the marginal propensity to consume of the urban residents, the changes of social and economic development, the changes of national consumption policy in different economic system period, the changes of consumption culture development, promote the changes of urban residents' consumption lifestyle. In addition, the changes of urban residents'consumption lifestyle exist in some consumption problems such as urban residents'consumption rate remains lowly, their income gap leading to the gap of consumption level and the consumption structure, and their ideas and policies which guide residents expanding consumer demand consumption are still not clear, etc. This paper puts forwards to concrete suggestions: firstly, to implement national western development strategy and implement a scientific outlook on development requirements; Secondly, to establish the Beibu-Gulf economic zone, and to promote the strategic position of the city zone internal economic development; Thirdly, to strive to create urban jobs, to increase channels of urban residents to raise revenue, in order to improve the urban residents income level; Fourthly, with local features traditional culture as the carrier, we need to develop new consumption culture.With a retrospect of the changes and development of urban residents'consumption lifestyle of Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone in 60 years, we get a conclusion that consumption lifestyle of urban residents in Beibu-Gulf economic zone, have been developing from planned economy period of single, the low level of consumption life, to the current development status, pluralism, and notice of the spiritual life of the consumer life status. Also we have concluded that the change of social economic system and consumption culture development have been promoted the beibu gulf economic zone of urban household consumption lifestyle changes. Finally, with the growth of urban residents'incomes, and the changes of the consumption idea and consumption culture, urban residents'consumption lifestyle of Guangxi Beibu-Gulf economic zone will require further to develop in the future.
