A Reaserch On The Development Of Agricultural Industrial Cluster In Henan Province

The theory of industrial cluster is an important branch of regional economics. Many scholars at home and abroad have studied industrial cluster theory from different perspectives, such as the definition and types, the formation and development mechanism of industrial clusters etc. However, the study of agricultural industrial cluster theory is relatively rare. On the one hand, due to the characteristics of agriculture itself, agriculture is not easier to generate cluster effect than the industry. On the other hand, although agriculture is the primary industry, the position of agriculture in developed countries is lower than that of other industries. China is a large agricultural country and its economic growth and development are inseparable from the development of agriculture. It has also been proved that the industrial cluster is an important channel for the development of agriculture in some developed countries and some provinces of China. Henan is a big agricultural province, so the research of Henan agricultural industry clusters, to some extent, has the realistic meaning, and meanwhile, there is no united consensus on the concept, type, formation and development of agriculture industrial cluster, so the research also has the theoretical significance.The thesis consists of six parts. The first part is the introduction which includes the background, the relevant literature review at home and abroad, the general outline, the research methods and the innovations and shortcomings of the thesis. The second part is the analysis of the current situation concerning the agriculture industrial cluster in Henan Province. The background, type and characteristics of the industrial cluster are expounded in detail. Combined with the analysis above, the third part conducts a model analysis of the agriculture industrial cluster in Henan province. The author analyzes the conditions and factors which can influence the formation and development of agriculture industrial cluster by means of the game theory and institutional analysis, which is followed by the construction and interpretation of the model. The third part points out the plight and advantages of developing agriculture industrial cluster in Henan province, based on analysis of the model variables and particular case of the agriculture industrial cluster in Henan Province. The fifth part refers to the current situation, the problems and advantages of the agricultural industry cluster in Henan Province and meanwhile proposes the corresponding measures and suggestions.This thesis explores the relevant aspects of agriculture industrial cluster in Henan Province, based on the combination use of empirical and normative analysis and the comprehensive knowledge of regional economics, new institutional economics and game theory. Compared with some works of the experts, this thesis is quite superficial. The present author intends to provide a perspective to study agriculture industrial cluster in Henan Province. Most of the variables of the industrial cluster, such as innovation, property, system and rent-seeking, cannot be quantified. Therefore, it cannot be collected and processed in terms of data and also cannot be analyzed and tested by way of econometrics, lacking the necessary data analysis.
