With the development of global value chains as the basic constraints on firms’operation, firms should pursuit not only economic values but also various socialvalues. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) requires firms to be responsible for theiremployees, consumers, and suppliers, to fully take community development,environment protection, and resource saving into account, and to increase their ownvalues as well as social welfare while satisfying the requirements of their value chainpartners and their own sustainable development. The process of fulfilling CSR is alsothe process of practicing sustainable development. It responses to the needs of globalcompetition and can be considered as a strategic way and a development model tosatisfy the requirements of global value chain partners. Firms in the global valuenetworks should focus on the improvement of social responsibility institutions and thecontributions to the society, rather than on that of their own interests. Firms are notonly the economic organizations to create wealth,but also the social organizations tomaintain social harmony and improve scientific development. Even more, they areresponsible to maintain sustainable development between human and environment.Firms who afford social responsibility are acknowledged by their value chain partnersand the whole society. In this way, they can realize long-term sustainabledevelopment.Based on the theories of global value chains and sustainable development, thisdissertation explores the evaluation of CSR under the dual constraints.First, based on the analysis of both domestic and international CSR research, thisdissertation presents an elaborate overview of the current evaluation of CSR, andproposes the main innovation points and the technology roadmap.Second, the dissertation summarizes the theoretical meanings of corporate valuechains, global value chains and the concept of sustainable development, establishesthe restrictions of this study, and proposed the problem of CSR under the dualconstraints.The third, the dissertation analyzes the motivations of firms to fulfill CSR. First,the dissertation establishes a model of motivations to fulfill CSR from the perspectiveof game theory. Then the dissertation establishes an analytical framework of themotivations to fulfill CSR based on value growth. Finally, the dissertation establishesan analytical framework of the motivations to fulfill CSR under the dual constraints,which includes the concept of sustainable development, global value chains, corporatestrategy, and business performance into the comprehensive analysis system. The fourth, on the basis of the boundary of the CSR concept and the mainmodels, the dissertation establishes a boundary model of CSR under the dualconstraints, and uses the concept of sustainable development and global value chainsas guidelines to determine the specific contents of CSR to be fulfilled.The fifth, by summarizing the existing main points of the evaluation of CSR, thedissertation establishes a system of CSR and a system of its evaluation indicatorsystem. By using the dimension of the concept of sustainable development as thetarget level and the internal and the external value activities involved in the globalvalue chains as criterion levels, the dissertation designs an indicator system of CSRevaluation, which consists of81indicators. According to the characteristics of theautomobile industry, we select38second-level indexes of9types indicators from the81index system to make quantitative analysis, and we use fuzzy comprehensiveevaluation and grey evaluation method respectively to make arithmetic evaluation.Lastly, the dissertation establishes a system of corporate social responsibilityproject. Starting from the internal and external construction of the enterprise, itconcludes the strategic system of fulfilling CSR under the dual constraints.The innovation points of the dissertation are: firstly, it establishes an analyticframework of the motivations of fulfilling CSR under the dual constraints; secondly, itestablishes a boundary model and an evaluation system model of CSR under the dualconstraints; and the third, it establishes a system of corporate social responsibilityproject.
