For the western powers with the United States and Britain, the economic strength of the two major countries had obviously changed a lot because of the World WarⅡ. The United States became as the world's first economic power, while Britain had to face the overall economic recession. The gap between the economic strength resulted in the changes in the international status, it also made the United States shift the economic policies on Britain. The United States, which had the super economic strength, wanted to set up a new economic system in the world during the sensitive period of the shift in the world pattern, which was contradictory to the traditional currency and trade policies of Britain. The United States launched an attack on the United Kingdom while it lost in the economic recession and financial difficulties, and constantly squeezed out and suppressed British forces using his strong economic and diplomatic power. With the changes of the international situation, the economic policies of America on Britain also subsequently adjusted, economic aid was accepted as a bait to appease Britain. And the Anglo-American relationships also shifted under the policy adjustment. The text consists of three parts: introduction, body and conclusion. And the body is divided into three sections. The first chapter is about to discuss and analyze the economic diplomacy to the United Kingdom the United States carried out in order to achieve the final signing of the Bretton Woods Agreement, which is based on an international financial plan the United States enacted after the war. Centering on its national interests and taking its powerful economic strength as the backing, the United States took advantages of the British traditional diplomacy to squeeze out British forces so as to achieve his purpose of building financial hegemony and make Britain deepen the dependence on the U.S. economy in preparation to hold Britain world in favor of the economic and diplomatic means later. The second chapter is to deal with the American economic policies on Britain according to the contents and backgrounds of the financial and trade negotiations and the impacts of the bilateral agreements in early post-warⅡ. The United States aimed at forcing the British to accept the U.S. multilateral free trade policies during this period. America stopped rental assistance to the United Kingdom in the time of British financial crisis, the only way Britain could seek was to rely on the Anglo-American Financial Agreement, so Britain compromised on America once again. However, financial loans failed to produce many positive effects but deepened the financial crisis of Britain. The third chapter is to analyze the reasons for the shift of American economic policy on Britain and its influences by studying the motives and process of the Marshall Plan that American put forward along with the background of changes in international relations. The United States changed to appease and lure Britain instead of the early tough economic foreign policies on Britain at this stage. With the help of the Marshall Plan, the United States made Britain unable to get rid of the dependence on the U.S. economy, and intended to meddle in the internal affairs of the British economy and interior politics so that the United Kingdom was at the service of America in the Cold War against the Soviet Union. The conclusion part summaries the full text. In different stages, the economic foreign policy to Britain the United States carried out always serves the integral goal that the United States set up the economic hegemony. At the same time, the United States and Britain's economic interests conflict led to changes of international economic pattern.Based on some previous study achievements , this passage is mainly to reveal the transition of the American economic policies that served the interests of United States, and the effects on the Anglo-American relationships after its policy implementation, which were contacted to three major events from the wartime to post-war.
