Our power station boiler companies devote efforts on the research anddevelopment of the new products all the time. However, these companies are facingtwo problems: on one side, the material cost of the power station boiler is over80%,the profits are very low, and the manufacturers' resources on technology creation arelimited.On the other hand, the companies have more and more technologydevelopment projects with the growing-up speed of the Power generation technologyupdating. So,there are much risk in the technology creation. Nevertheless, one of theimportant features of technology creation is its high risk. The uncontrollability of thecompanies' outside environment, and the limitation of the companies' key competenceand technology strength, all these facts will cause the delay, interruption and failure ofthe technology creation or the results deviat from the expected goal. These will notonly cause the visible economy lost on the company's finance, but also cause theinvisible lost on the time, opportunities, management, etc of the company. Hence,how to avoid the technology creation risks appropriately in the market competition tochoose the good development projects, we need a scientific and practical judgementmethod.On the basis of analyzing the company's technology creation features of the powerstation boiler manufacturing, the aim of this essay is to analyse the key facts thatinfluence the risk of the company's technology creation. In this way, we will build ascientific and practical judgement method and use the AHP to do the judgment. At theend of the essay, we will take SBW as the example to do the case study. We hope thisessay will provide arguments on the risk judgements on the technology creationprojects and will give lessons and thoughts to enhance the scientific level of thejudgement on the technology creation projects for the power station boilermanufacturing companies.
