Resources shortage, ecological crisis, and natural disasters have become the main global challenges to the sustainable development of human being on Earth. As the basic material sources for human livelihood, undoubtedly, agriculture has to find the way in between the narrow gap of potential and restraints of natural environment. Along this approach, it would be one of the top priorities to develop sorts of cycling agriculture at different levels to meet the general goal of sustainable development. In China, the vast spatial stretch and varied ecological backgrounds have laid a strong basis for the all-round exploration of cycling agriculture patterns across the country in the context of combining marketing approach with environmental possibilities, considering the macro driving forces such as global warming concern in particular.Gansu is a special area which is typical in terms of harsh and regionally differentiated agricultural environment and very limited inputs from indigenous industry sector necessary to the investment-led development of modern agriculture. Therefore, to develop cycling agriculture has been an urgent choice in Gansu province for the sustainable development of its agriculture sector all together in order to up-grade marketing competitiveness of the sector and increase farmers'income generated from it.To develop cycling agriculture is a physical challenge for the sector on the one hand, to research, and therefore, to find the rule of guiding the dynamics of the development is also a big challenge for the research sector and the society in general on the other hand. For the purpose of understanding the development of cycling agriculture in Gansu province, the author employed a 3-Starta model to make the way in terms of research the complexity of the cycling agriculture in the perspective of province scope, which consists of household level, enterprise or cluster of firms, and integration at a regional level, e.g., a province scale. The main findings and conclusions as follow:1. The 3-Starta model is a practical approach in terms of understanding the complexity of cycling agriculture, which is helpful to understand the fractionation & integration of circulating agricultural layer accurately & comprehensively.2. Patterns of cycling agriculture at household level are the micro basis of the sector due to the prevailing fundamental role of farming system run by farmers'households in China. At this level, as all sorts of success stories suggested that innovation and application of right technology in terms of cycling agriculture on right field or situation can definitely contribute to consolidating the sustainable development of farmer's household farming system. 3. Patterns of cycling agriculture based on collaboration between farmer's households farming system and a certain key enterprise or cluster of enterprises integrated by cycling agricultural connections have shown strong technical and economic advantages mainly thanks to the scale economy of an enterprise or cluster of them through optimization of the cycling agricultural connections among them, however, which could achieve more benefits based on more adaptable system combined advanced technology with improved management through efficient resource allocation and complementary cycling of stuff. Therefore, this kind of cycling agriculture patterns would bear strong priority along with the approach that agro enterprises would fast grow in a wide scope.4. Integration and optimizing agricultural industry chains will lay a strong basis for the sustainable development of regional cycling agriculture. The way to achieve the goal lies in establishing specialized agricultural industrial chain on regional production bases in accordance with the advantages from particular resources to quality material and favorite products which take the product diversity, raw material reproducibility, market segmentation and workforce diversity into account .5. Entropy weight model can grasp overall development of area agricultural circulation initially. The result of which indicates that the simple and related experimental data accords with the current development situation of circulating agriculture in Gansu Province. On the basis of entropy model,reach a conclusion that the evaluation data of circulating agriculture model in Gansu Province contributes to the deep analysis of entropy theory for regional hierarchy circulating agriculture model.
