ycling economy related to pedaling cadence has been reported to be optimized at 33-80 rpm and at 90-130 rpm using a steady state protocol. Predominantly, these studies have been performed in conditions that do not reflect competitive cycling, where cadences of 90 + are regularly used. The purpose of this field study was to measure cycling economy during a prolonged non-steady state protocol with the subjects using their own bicycles.
