The urban agricultural, as an eco-economical development strategy that can improve the drawbacks of the modern urbanization, acts as roles of adding the urban agricultural supply, the ecological environment protection, the decomposition and circulation of the municipal waste in the city. Since last century,compared with the green building, the low-carbon technologies and the urban greening, the urban agriculture is a new concept in the field of urban planning and architecture. And the design and practice combined agriculture with buildings is relatively rare. Nowadays, as the urban agriculture becomes a new concept in the urban development, how to combine the agriculture with buildings with innovative technologies turns to a new topic for the architects.Unlike other articles that in urban scale or exclusively about the Vertical Farming, this thesis focuses on the research, design, use, management and other aspects in the integration of the agriculture and building, from the perspective of architecture. Prior classification on the study mainly is Fa?ade Farming and Vertical Farming. In this article, the space is classified into flat space and three-dimension space, or in another word, the horizontal space and the vertical space, referring to the structure of the building. In the horizontal direction, the patterns of the agricultural activity by top-down follow:Roof Farming, Underground Farming, which occupying the roof or floor area and relying on the construction of the building. In the vertical direction, there introduces the forms of cultivation on the skin fa?ade of the building, such as Greenhouse Curtain and Planted Wall.In the new sustainable food chain system advocated by the Urban Agriculture, the process of the food production to consumption is a closed loop. In the building, the human activities, the growth and consumption of the food and the environment complement each other. In the research system of the integration of the building and agriculture, the eco-cycle technologies include the use of renewable energy, the organic recycling and reuse of the wastewater and waste, etc. The facilities farming technologies include soilless cultivation, drip irrigation, vertical planting and the technology of plant factory, providing the technical support and security for the integration. The combination of the two systems led to the feasibility of the integration, making it an efficient, sustainable, ecological and economical value technology system. In addition of the above mentioned research about the patterns of the integration, and analysis combined with relevant cases, this article also propose a new cultivation mode in the office building, summarize the eco-economical benefits brought by the urban agriculture and eco-agriculture building, and raise recommendations for the integration of the agriculture and building.
