Regional economic growth theory suggests that innovation is the source of economic growth. While advances in manufacturing technology and efficiency of resource use are brought by innovation. Regional manufacturing technological progress will not only lead to economic growth itself, but also promote economic growth of neighboring regions because of the role of inter-regional spillovers that called spatial spillover is the main problem of the thesis. Results of domestic and foreign researches was summarized so as to find that technological spillovers that showing the spatially-bounded nature is related to human capital, technological gap and physical distance among neighboring regions. It also finds that human capital, technological gap and physical distance affect the level of technological spillovers. Theoretical and empirical research methods were combined to in-depth study the reasons of spatial spillover and factors impacting absorption capacity. For the theoretical research of spatial spillover, spatial spillover-endogenous economic growth model with two neighboring regions was build to study the mechanism of inter-regional spatial spillover of labor productivity. Empirical research based on theoretical studies. Spatial lag model and spatial error model were built, combined with panel data on sub-regional labor productivity in all regions, to test the existence of spatial spillover and factors affecting the absorption capacity. Results of theoretical and empirical research show as follows. With results of theoretical research, spatial spillovers of regional technology do exist. Human capital is the main factor affects absorptive capacity for inter-regional technology spillover. The number of patents represents the level of regional R&D capability. R&D capability promotes the role of technology spillovers more obviously. Government policies and public infrastructure are also the factors affecting inter-regional spatial spillover. Immigration limited policy will hinder spatial spillover. The more perfect of public infrastructure is, especially that decreasing the cost of transportation, the higher level of inter-regional spillover exists. Comparative analysis of result of spatial lag model with two different weight matrix shows that human capital can promote the level of spatial spillover. The larger does human capital gap between adjacent areas exist, the lower level of spatial spillover exists. The effects on spatial spillover of the number of patent applied are smaller than of the level of human capital.
