On Human Nature Basis Of Consumption Ethics

Consumption being the research object of ethics, namely, the reason and basis of producing consumption ethics lies in: first, the social transformation has been bringing about the change of consumptive style. And consumption has become the center of lives instead of production. The problem of consumptive freedom and responsibility became even more prominent. The ethical relation penetrating in human and nature , human and society , and human and themselves in consumptive behavior became more and more clear, therefore, the assessment to ethic behavior and searching for the reasonable consumptive style have became the content of consumption ethical."Moderate"is the important ethical of ethics and one of the standards of ethical evaluation. Moderate consumption which base on this is the core beliefs of consumption ethics. Second, consumption is to be as the human being existing style and its essence, purpose, and significance all refer to the free and all-round development of human being. Ethics as a special kind of humanlogy is with regard to the theory of the existence and values of human being, and to the reflection of the human's survival, development and spiritual perfect. Its ultimate aim is to realize the truth, the goodness and the beauty of human nature and the happiness of human life. Therefore, humanity theory is the premise and foundation of ethics, and the end-result. This provides ethical evidence for consumption—humanity pursuit. In short, any construction of consumptive ethics is based on human nature. Looking for a fitting consumption ethics—moderate consumption—according to the humanity is the key to this paper.Traditional consumption ethical thoughts include three kinds of forms: abstinence socialist, asceticism and lust socialist. They accord to the different human nature: abstinence socialist consumption ethics based on moral humanity and rational humanity; asceticism consumption ethics based on religious theory of human nature; lust socialist consumption ethics based on natural humanity. Western consumerism ethics produced in modern capitalist society based on economic humanity and advocated the hedonism, selfishness values of life. People based on this value regard the consumption as a sole purpose in life, leading to the production of consumptive alienation. This alienation caused the humanity alienation. The demand of human being is alienated to "illusive needs", which produce materialism conspicuous consumption and hedonism luxury consumption. They equated humanity to property, ignored the perfect pursuit to spirit, and led to the production of this kind of person having material prosperity and spiritual empty—consumptive people ", that is, the one-dimensional people is dominated by material desire. That counter to the freedom and all–welled development of human being.Marxist humanity standpoint the essence of man is labor itself. On this basis, human being is unified of natural beings, social existence and spiritual beings, which not only confirm human essence but also embody the practice of human labor multiply. So the content of the human nature is complex and various, which decide the shape or the pursuit for any consumption ethical based on the one-sided thought of human nature will make a one-sided, missing person. Moderate consumption ethics is the appropriate consumptive ethics, which is based on the complete human nature, the pursuit of the realization to human being's freedom and overall development and people-oriented consumptive value. Complete human nature is to extract from many respects of human humanity, including a combination of human humanity, economic humanity, and regimen humanity. The three respects of human nature is mutual balanced and is the mechanism of complete human nature working fully. The performance of moderate consumption based on prefect humanity is not only acquire the development of human society and human being themselves but also protect the nature; not only satisfy the needs of individuals but also no harmful to others, social interests; not only satisfy the people's material needs but also realize the man's spiritual pursuit . It gives consideration to the three basic attributes of human being: natural attributes, social attribute and mental attributes, and guarantee the balanced development of human being, and create the conditions for human's free and overall development.
