Comparative Study On Economic Growth Issues Of Jilin And Guangdong Provinces

Economic growth theory is an important branch of modern Economics. Economic growth is the topic with which every country and region is universally concerned. The development of our country is getting better and better, but the inequality among regions is getting serious. Since the reform and opening policy was executed, economy has been kept in rapid growth more than thirty years in both Jilin Province and Guangdong Province. But there is a strict fact we have to face,the economic aggregate of Jilin Province compared with Guangdong Province, it is still almost five-fold gap. This paper comparatively analyzes the economic growing factors of Jilin and Guangdong provinces. Combining with two provinces'historical development paths, the paper comparatively studies the economic growing issues of Jilin and Guangdong provinces.The thesis is divided into five components:The first part is the introduction, mainly about the background and importance of this research. It reviews the related studies both domestic and overseas, and gives a brief introduction of the strategy and methodology of the research. The second part studies the theories concerning economic growth, including economic growth definition, metrics, classic and modern economic theories, and the differentiation theory of economic growth. The third part describes Jilin and Guangdong provinces'economic growing status, and makes comparison on selected indexes. The fourth part introduces the economic models, data resources, and data selection in this paper, then uses data from 1978-2009 to draw out the differences of Jilin and Guangdong'provinces economic growing by using statistic and comparative analysis methodologies. It also reveals the direct reasons for these differences. By using econometric theories and software such as EVIEWS and OFFICE, it quantitatively measures each factor's contribution to the economic growth of Jilin and Guangdong provinces. The fifth part is the conclusion and suggestion. This part concludes reasons why Jilin and Guangdong's economic growth paths are different. At the same time, it brings out policy suggestions on Jilin's future economic growth.
