Since the Second World War, oil has replaced coal to be the major energy resource of the world. The strategic importance of oil has been recognized by the world in the "Oil Crisis" caused by the international oil embargo in 1970s. As a country of large energy consumption, China has become the second largest market of crude oil consumption in 2004. With the rapid growth of economy and the number of private cars, the demand for crude oil will continue to increase. Recent turmoil in the Middle East and North Africa is pressing China to look for new and stable channels of crude oil importation. Mongolia is a country with rich oil resources while its domestic consumption of oil is moderate. With underdevelopment of transportation and high cost of logistics, there is a big space to develop in Mongolia's oil exportation to China. Therefore, the most pressing issue in the oil trade between China and Mongolia is to cut the cost of logistics and stabilize the oil price so as to reach a win-win result. This paper aims at studying the logistics modes of oil exportation from Mongolia to China. It first introduced the distribution and production of the crude oil resources in Mongolia and made an in-depth analysis of the production volume and logistics operation of Mongolia through researches so as to find out existing problems and the causes. It then predicted the demand of oil logistics on the wider areas between China and Mongolia with Grey Model according to the technological features of oil logistics modes. It did not adopt crude oil pipe mode according to the future plan of infrastructure development of logistics in China and Mongolia. And it proposed the optimization plan of logistics and conduct tests and analysis according to related statistics to find out the best plan. This study can be used for reference in reducing costs in the transportation of crude oil and optimizing the logistics of crude oil exportation from Mongolia to China. |
