Theoritcal And Empirical Stady On The Efficiency Of Leading Enterprises In Agriculture Industry

Regarded as basis of national economic growth and social stability, agriculture industry has been put on great emphasis in recent years in China. The twelfth five-year plan, which was put forward by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, suggested that agriculture industrialization should serve as a momentous method in advancing agriculture modernization, connecting farmers with produce market, and eventually forming an organization and mechanism of profit-sharing and venture-sharing in agriculture industry.Nevertheless, low level of agriculture industrialization in China and particularly the poor performance of leading enterprises in agriculture industry have had significant negative influence on both agriculture development and rise in fanners' revenue. Consequently, the issue of how to improve operating efficiency in agriculture leading enterprises becomes more and more imperative in both academic field and practical department in China. The existing research, however, failed in specifically defining diversified sorts of efficiency concepts, as well as putting forward with unanimous policies and suggestions concerning improving the efficiency of leading enterprises as whole. In a word, taking a study on performance of China's agriculture leading enterprises in the viewpoint of efficiency research not only boasts theoretical value but also possesses pragmatic merits.Nowadays, modern microeconomic theories and literatures have provided us so much prophase research materials that it is convenient for us to carry out our further research on the efficiency of agriculture leading enterprises. Thus, guided by microeconomic and agriculture economic theories, this paper take efficiency standard as the measuring benchmark of performance in leading enterprises as a result. Meanwhile, making use of comprehensive methods of empirical and experience study, this paper makes conclusions in any terms of efficiency research based on compelling and convincing empirical evidences. Furthermore, the authors have make efforts to bring forth innovations in this thesis as follows:firstly, with the development of analytic perspective of efficiency, this paper has made a relatively throughout study on varieties of efficiency concept, from static state to dynamic situation of performance in leading enterprises. Secondly, with regard to the method applied in measuring efficiency, this paper has made comparison in terms of both efficiency concept and mathematic properties so that the empirical part of this thesis could be reliably corroborated.There are four chapters comprise this thesis except for the introductory remarks, and the rough content of which is as follows:Firstly, grounded on microeconomic theories in terms of entity efficiency, the paper narrates and synthesizes the analytical framework of both production efficiency and transaction efficiency in leading enterprise. Secondly, the empirical appraisal and analysis of the efficiency value of China's listed agriculture leading enterprises have been utilized to estimate the effect of market structure and shareholders put on the performance of leading enterprises. Thirdly, employing method of comparative study, this paper makes a measurement on the transaction efficiency of listed leading enterprises in various agriculture industries. Finally, on the basis of empirical study and experience research in previous chapters, the author provides some policy suggestions and reform arrangements in the interests of enhancing the efficiency situation of agriculture leading enterprises both in sphere of production efficiency and transaction efficiency.
