Construction industry is one of the pillar industries in national economic construction, and plays a decisive role in economic construction of a country. In comparison with the others industry, the construction industry has such characteristics as simplicity of product, long lead-time of production, workload high and extensive yields. These characteristics will affect the integrity and efficiency of communication for information in the construction industry, the prime cost of the construction project is improved, and the social resources are wasted.The electronic commerce of construction industry is combine the modern information technology, techniques of modern management and project item, and an integrated electronic commerce of construction industry is built and is an effective means to improve the managerial effectiveness of project item, build a reasonable material purchase of a project, reduce project cost and enhance the competence of the enterprises, which can ensure the sustainable development of the construction industry.(1) In this paper, the basic concept and theory, structure and function of the electronic commerce is introduced, then the objective of the electronic commerce for the construction industry and the application of electronic commerce in the construction industry is elaborated. At last, the influence of the electronic commerce on the construction industry is analyzed.(2) The basic concept of enterprise competition ability is introduced, and the competition ability and effect factor of the construction industry is analyzed. Then, the basic reason for a weaker competition ability of the construction industry in our country is presented, and relative ways to improve the enterprise competition ability of the construction industry by the style of electronic commerce.(3) An investigation of present situation of electronic commerce in the construction industry is executed from the four main organizations, i.e., governmental agencies, real estate developer, architectural design and research institute and construction enterprises and the application of the electronic commerce in the construction industry is found out. Further more, an example for a real estate invest and consult co ltd in Nongbo reveals the actual level of the electronic commerce in the construction industry of our country. The obstacle and superiority are also analyzed for the application.(4) Based on the obstacle and superiority of the electronic commerce in the construction industry, the measures are presented to improve the enterprise competition ability of the construction industry, i.e., renovating and changing the management model of the electronic commerce in the construction industry, molding the core competition capacity of the construction industry in the environment of the electronic commerce, and building the management framework of electronic commerce in construction industry.
