A Research On The Contribution Of Rural Labor Transformation To Economic Growth In Jiangsu Province

Surplus labors have appeared in rural with the liberation of rural liberation and improvement of production since the reform and open policy. The surplus rural labors also transferred to the urban with the process of industrialization. Especially during the 1980's, the size and speed of the surplus rural labors'transformation get bigger and bigger, which meet the requirements of a large number of labors for economics growth and make a great contribution to economics growth..Jiangsu province is one of provinces for the highest speed of economics growth in China. Also the transformation of rural labors makes a great contribution to it. There are five parts in this paper. In the first part we introduce some definitions about rural transformation and the motivated effects brought by rural labors at first. And then we will analyze some properties for the transformation of rural labors in Jiangsu province. Form above analysis we can find that staged, locality, industrial structure and income improved are the key properties for the transformation of rural labors in Jiangsu province.In the second part we make an empirical analysis for factors influencing the transformation of rural labors by the method of random experiment. The results indicate that there are two kinds of factors influence the transformation of rural labors. They are the pushing factors and impeding factors respectively. The urban-rural income gap and non-agriculture GDP are included in pushing factors. The urban and rural consumption expenditure and urban unemployed rate are included in impeding factors. These four factors all have great impacts on the transformation of rural labors.We make a brief review for the theory of economics growth and analyze the different properties for economics growth in the third part. The Solow model is constructed for the contribution to economics growth from the transformation of rural labors according to the above properties based on the analysis of related theories. The partial least square method is applied to make the empirical analysis because of small sample size and multiple variances. The application of partial least square method can also avoid multi-collinearity lying in common regression methods.The empirical analysis is conducted in the fourth part in terms of above models. The contributed rates to economics growth of the transformation of rural labors in southern Jiangsu, middle Jiangsu, northern Jiangsu and the total Jiangsu province. The results indicate that the contributed rate from the middle Jiangsu is 10.11%, then the northern Jiangsu 5.78% and the southern Jiangsu 4.38%.Finally, some measures and advice are given in terms of the different contributed rates.
