China's economy and the level of the inhabitant's income has been growing with a high speed, for more than thirty years since the reform and opening up. But the income gap between city and countryside always stay at a high level. The excessively large gap restricts our country national economy coordinated development and the construction harmonious society's realistic barrier.The article analyzed the primary factors affected income gap between city and countryside. First is the output of per labor between the Agriculture department and the non-Agriculture department; the share of labor income and population burden. Second is the lag of urbanization. The last includes arrangements of economic systems and the influence of economic policies.By using statistical analysis and measurement method of combining economic models, the article verified the conclusions from an empirical point of view. It suggested the both the output of per labor between the Agriculture department and the non-Agriculture department and the share of labor income were positive correlation with the income gap between city and countryside. The population burden was negative correlation. The lag of urbanization was also positive correlation, which was the greatest factor. Discriminatory fiscal and educational policies also caused the income gap.Basing on the above analysis: it suggested that Speeding up the process of urbanization; reforming the household registration system; establishing a unified labor market; increasing government investment in agriculture; broadening the sources of funding and improving the teaching conditions in rural areas and the quality of farmers in order to promote agricultural development and rural incomes rural social stability.
