Edible vegetable oil is indispensable to Chinese urban and rural residents, and its supply security is an important part of national food security strategy. Palm oil as one of the important edible vegetable oil, not only related to people's daily production and life, but also related to the social security and stability. In the light of China's situation, China is the biggest developing country in the world. Since the reform and opening up, the economic increases more rapidly. At the same time, the vegetable oil needs more and more, Palm oil with its low prices, rich nutrition quality characteristics, in the domestic consumption second only to soybean oil, becomes our country's second largest consumption of edible vegetable oil. As a result of our country climate, environment, land and other restrictions, places suitable for planting palm oil are rare, and can't be self-sufficient. Facing the huge consumer demand, palm oil is almost entirely dependent on imports. China's palm oil imports are increasing, which firstly reached4.4682million tons and became the world's largest importer of palm oil, more than India in2005. In2009, China's palm oil imports increased to6.5868million tons, and annual growth rate up to16.07%. Our country faced with such a huge palm oil imports, there is a series of problems, such as the lack of pricing, foreign dependence, importing mostly refined oil and so on, which will produce greater security risks to the economy. Therefore, the research on China's palm oil import trade, not only avails the palm oil and its relevant industries'healthy and steady development, but also avail the security of national economy and social stability, which has strong theoretical and practical significance. In this study, this paper based on economics supply and demand theory, international trade theory, resource scarcity and resource allocation theory, deeply analyzed the meaning of the palm oil industry security features, trade trends, influencing factors, and took palm oil import trade problems as a breakthrough. Finally using the methods, the combination of material information collection and comprehensive analysis, the combination of empirical analysis and normative analysis and the combination of empirical analysis and measurement model, to analyze and check China palm oil's relative data from1986to2009, and to verify the security situation of the palm oil industry in the past23years, at the same time, to evaluate and analyze China's palm oil industry security situation. Finally to make palm oil industry safety countermeasure proposal not only has very strong pertinence and maneuverability, but also has the scientificity and reliability. The concrete research contents of this paper include the following aspects:Firstly, analyze the general situation of the world and China's palm oil, from its production, trade and consumption analysis. Secondly, qualitative and quantitative analyze the main factors of China's palm oil import and solve China's palm oil import demand equation as well as palm oil and other vegetable oils substitutes; Thirdly, summarize the main problems in Chinese imports of palm oil, such as excessive concentration in imports, foreign dependency, and lack of international market discourse right, etc; Finally, in view of the problems existing in our country imports' palm oil trade and how to ensure supply security of palm oil, and finally puts forward measures and suggestions.Through analyzing the full paper, there are still a range of security risks in China's palm oil trade. In order to safeguard the safety of future palm oil supply, while we vigorously develop the domestic palm oil industry, we also should actively implement the development strategy "going out", and promote the development of palm oil's futures market. Of course, all the measures ultimately should gain government's strong support and leadership. I hope the research can provide some help to our government when making decision, and do some efforts to the palm oil industry development and domestic palm oil safety supply.
