Analysis Of Shanxi Rural Residents' Consumption Behaviors Based On Microcosmic Data

With the transformation of the economic30years, the level of economic development inShanxi Province continue to improve.The economic structure has changed dramatically and theeconomic growth mode has transformed from restricting supply to demand constraint, butconsumption has become the key factor in influence the steady economic growth in our province.However, in recent years the final consumption rate has falled in successive years of our province,the data show that the decline of the final consumption rate is mainly due to the decline ofconsumption. At present, the rural population accounts for about57.9%of the total population inour province, the rural market is a tremendous consumer market, so the rural consumption shortageis one of the most important factors that cause the effective demand insufficient. With the ruraleconomic system of marketization reform deepening, the country face have changed dramatically,farmers' living quality also has the bigger change. However, in the background of the rapideconomic development of rural economy and the market process speeding increasingly, ruralresidents' consumptions are influenced except by themselves factors, but also by the externalenvironment.With the system of socialism market economy continues to deepen, the social securitysystem of City residents has become more and more perfect, however, the rural market reform ofthe social security system is relatively lags behind, so the rural residents have to undergo preventivesavings. In the current economic situation, Shanxi rural residents' income level below the averagelevel of the nation, and the rural residents face many uncertainty of family' income andconsumption, so different identity characteristics of rural households have different consumptionbehaviors, and the motivations of precautionary saving are not the same. Therefore, we study on theconsumption behavior differences of the different identity characteristics of rural households tounderstand the different shanxi identity characteristics of rural residents' consumption demands,promote the prosperity of shanxi rural consumer market and improve the rural financial and theconstruction of rural social security system of Shanxi Province have the important meaning.The quantity research of consumer behavior mainly include two aspects,the consumption leveland the consumption structure. This paper first starting from the consumption of the presentsituation of rural residents analyzes the changes of the level of consumption and consumptionstructure;then in the framework of precautionary saving theory, using the three consecutive years,2005-2007,of the rural residents' individual data of Shanxi Province, we study on farmers'consumption behavior of different age paragraphs and different cultural degrees through thequantitative analysis and establishing a panel data model, it is found that the consumption level andthe consumption structure as different as the householder's age and cultural degree;finally put forward the policies and suggestions that target for expanding the rural consumption market ofShanxi Province.
