Along with the restraint of the water environment to urbanization pattern is more and more obvious, how to construct the pattern of resource conservation and environmental friendly urbanization has become the focus of the related departments in the water resources and environmental stress condition. This paper takes the water environment stress as the study condition, for the purpose of revealing the urbanization pattern surrounding Poyang Lake and providing the basis for scientific decision of the ecological economic construction and development. The paper proposes lakes affect the city economic zone through "lake effect" hypothesis and the Bass technology innovation model, and takes surrounding Poyang Lake for an example, useing the method of ArcGIS buffer analysis, regression and thematic maps, dividing the whole area into core, edge and peripheral influence area. Then it analyses the urbanization pattern of population, economy, life, infrastructure and comprehensive according to the statistical and kennel method, a single index and composite index investigation method, and gets the following conclusions:①Hypothesis suggests that the degree of city economy influenced by lakes is increasing firstly and then increasing with the change of the distance from the city and lakes in no other geographical factors influence, which gets three layers surrounding Poyang Lake;②the general distribution pattern of towns is that the core is more intensive, the edge and peripheral are gradually sparse under water environment stress;③along with the increase of space from Poyang Lake, the urbanization level of the three regions shows increasing firstly, then decreasing.
