Left Behind In Rural Old-age Security For The Elderly

With urbanization and industrialization process being accelerated, a lot of labors have been flowing from rural areas into cities, from agriculture fields into industry fields, from less-developed regions into developed regions. It has caused the rural communities gradually become an empty shell of the residences just for children, women and the elderly. Under the influence of various society trends, such as society transforming, industrialization, urbanization, the aging of population, the function of traditional mode for supporting the elderly in rural areas has been increasingly weakening. How to maintain the elderly remaining in rural areas has become a more and more prominent problem in the process of New Rural Construction.Through the method of questionnaire and spot interviews, we made a field research for the pension issue of the elderly remaining in rural areas in DaRen village, MengCheng county, AnHui province. Based on the documents and materials, integrating the theory and background, this paper analyze the aged's following questions:low income, poor quality of life, lack of life care, safety problems, pension protection, heavy labor, communication difficulties, loneliness and other issues.For the above problems, this paper focuses on analyzing the types, the features, the pension situation, the faced problems and difficult of the elderly remaining in DaRen village. Combining with the existing rural endowment insurance, medical and health conditions and basic maintenance ensuring, from the view of the traditional culture of filial piety, we use the theory of the needs of the aged to discuss how to solve the problem of pension issue of the elderly in rural areas from three aspects:individuals, families and society. This paper mainly focuses on exploring and finding the specific measures from improving the pension security system, adjusting and ameliorating the new rural endowment insurance and the new rural cooperative medical system for the elderly remaining in DaRen village.
