Village Of Lijiang Ludian New Master Naxi Heaven Ceremony And Their Functions Explored

The56ethnic groups have been creating rich and brilliant culture in China. The Chinese civilization has also been created and reserved by different culture tradition and spiritual believes from all ethnic groups. However, as the process of open and reform continues to proceed and the economic globalization develops, the politic, economic, and cultural environment also begins to change mightily, which also caused the continuous damage to the base of traditional culture. The result is not only challenging to the traditional culture, but also is destructive to the social structure and the ecological harmony in ethnic groups'region. These problems mentioned above have aroused the attention attached to the reservation and protection of traditional culture. Therefore, under the guide of government and some cultural leaders, some of the traditional culture customs have been attracting more and more attention, and getting protection from cultural subjectivity.The Naxi minority, living in the northwest area of China with a population of300thousand, created its own traditional culture, which brought praises from people all over the world. Faced with the crush from economic globalization and parlous crisis, the Naxi culture picked up an active attitude to cope with and search for an appropriate way to preserve itself, among which to rekindle the ritual of offering a sacrifice to Heaven is an important one. The Naxi minority had been once called as "Naxi mu by de" which means that the Naxi people took the ritual of offering a sacrifice as the most important one. The ritual of offering a sacrifice to Heaven, as the most important ritual of Naxi people in history, once disappeared because of the complicate backgrounds and reasons, has now been recovering quietly. Given this situation, the thesis, based on the return of the ritual of offering a sacrifice to Heaven in the Xinzhu Village, Ludian Township, Naxi Minority Antonymous County, Lijiang City, tries to explore the cultural implication and social function, and give some advices on how to bring back the ethic groups'cultural traditions.The thesis includes five parts. The first part is the introduction of this thesis, introducing the reason, researching history, viewpoint, studying methods of the research. The second chapter traces the history of the ritual of offering a sacrifice to Heaven in Xinzhu Village. The third chapter describes the whole ritual of offering a sacrifice to Heaven in Xinzhu Village. In the forth chapter, the social function of the return of ritual of offering a sacrifice to Heaven has been analyzed. In the last chapter, conclusion, the relative experience, existing problems and solutions are concluded. The thesis points out that the return of ritual of offering a sacrifice to Heaven, which is the most typical traditional culture custom, brings active influence to the development of Naxi community and the reservation of traditional culture, and inspires the transformation and development of Naxi traditional culture under modern society. According to this importance, government and relative public sector should offer support to the recovering and development of traditional culture. This kind of support will not only meet people's demands on culture, but also will be in accordance with the direction of cultural diversity and the relative cultural development policies of China.
