Since1950s metropolitan region have emerged and gradually improvedin all countries,becoming new directionof modern urban system.This thesisstraihgten out and summarise the progress of the study of metropolitianregion and its basic characteristics and practical significance,anddiscusses the development superiority of Fuzhou metropolitanregion.Refer to the breaking piont theory to divide the impact extent ofFuzhou metropolitan region.Further,by the quantitative calculasion andqulitative analysis of economic distance and economic gravitation andfield stengthen of Fuzhou metropolitan core region, at the present stagethe author define the spatial extent of Fuzhou metropolitan region:Fuzhucity as the center showing three circle system,respectively,from insideto outside that is center,within the circle,outside the circle.Based onthe analysis in the above,the author from three aspects to analyse theformation mechanism of Fuzhou metropolitan region:Fist,the geographicconditions and socio-economic background.Secoond,government's role information of the Fuzhou metropolitan region,including changes inadministrative divisions,urban planning adjustments,the construction ofinfrastrucure.third,the effect of market on the formation of the Fuzhoumetropolitan region,including foreign investment,populationsuburbanization,urban active cooperration within region,industrialchain and industry gathering.Finally,in reference to foreign developmentexperiences on the metropolitan region,this thesis gives some advicesabout the further promotion for the coordinated development of the Fuzhoumetropolitan region.
