As the economic center, banking industry plays a more remarkable role in the national economy. Moreover, after entry into WTO of China, banking industry are facing enormous challenge of multinationals, and how to improve the competitiveness of commercial bank become the urgent problem needed to be solved as soon as possible under the global environment of fierce competition.In this paper, on the base of the related theories, a system of index to evaluate the competitiveness of commercial bank is made. According to the definition to the competitiveness of commercial banks in this essay, the system should include three pillars: the real competitiveness of commercial banks, the potential competence and the ability of turning potential competitiveness into real competitiveness. Here, the real competitiveness is measured by the index of the commercial bank's resource and the operation condition and the potential competitiveness can be compared by the efficiency of organization and the ability of innovation. For the ability of turning potential competitiveness into real competitiveness, it can be evaluated by the business development. In the analysis of the competitiveness, the focus is the superiority and inferiority of Bank of China in Huaihua. On the base of comparison, the conclusion is the competitiveness of Bank of China is the first in Huaihua city.In the end, it should make full use of its resources to improve its competitiveness. There are five measures to get the aim, including alternating the policy of business development, enhancing the management of human resources, improving the management of risk, speeding up the financial innovation building the advanced company culture.
