Study On CAD/CAM Of Cold Roll Forming Section Steel

Cold roll forming is a kind of outstanding advanced sheet metal forming process,and it has some characters with saving energy, saving material and high efficiency.Forming roll is the most important parts of cold roll forming unit. Because of manyforming passes of cold forming steel mill, the mill need a large number of rolls and thevariety of rolls need more roll pieces. In order to meet the request of cold rolled sectionsteel’s manufacture constantly raise, the material of rolls are continually changing andimproving. So the manufacture of rolls must also have higher requirements. The use ofCAD/CAM technology for the design and manufacture of rolls greatly promote thedevelopment of cold roll forming technology.This paper does research on the technology of CAD/CAM based on the exploitationwith the Pro/TOOLKIT kit of Pro/E. In VC environment, the CAD/CAM integratedsystem of the cold roll forming section steel is created based on established CAD of therolls with the use of the MFC DLL type of DLL mode. To use the feature modelingtechnology, the features of roll are classified, parametrically designed and stored. Thenthree-dimensional solid model of the roll is built with the method of feature-combination.With the analysis of the process scheme of the roll, this system determines the processingof the roll and the CNC code of the roll’s manufacture.The system is mainly composed of three parts-the building of feature modeling ofcold roll forming section steel, the roll’s CAPP and the roll’s CAM. It can make thefeature information based on the design drawings of the roll inputted, edited and deleted.In the stage of process design, the system has these manufacture features sorted byprocess step based on the characteristics of the CNC manufacture and generate areasonable process route. In addition, the ACCESS engineering database is establishedbased on the characteristics of the integrated CAD/CAM system，and this system takesadvantages of connection between VC and ACCESS database to process some dataincluding the information of the feature model, the processing information and the tool’s information. Then, the system takes full use of the loop manufacture CNC code based onFANUC CNC system which is most widely used in our country to ensue the simple CNCprogram and the improvement of the manufacture efficiency. Finally，the article veritythe correctness of the NC code with the CNC simulation software .
