C-channel steel is widely used in construction industry as the metal skeleton.The research on the forming quality of C-channel steel is necessary because the quality and the service life have a significant effect on the safety of constructions.Besides process parameters,the section quality has the same effect status on forming quality.There is not a specific indicator to judge the forming quality of the cold roll forming products.Most of the designs of the cold roll forming are still depends on the experiences which hinders development of this industry.In this paper,the numerical models of cold roll forming and die shear based on the MSC.Marc and Deform were established.The forming and shear process of the C-channel steel were studied with the methods of simulation and experiment.The research of the forming quality were based on the forming and shearing process parameters:(1)The solid element model of thin-walled steel was established in MSC.Marc.In order to seek for the distribution laws of the strain and stress,the strip was divided into internal,middle and external layers.(2)The forming angle increment,the station distance and the forming velocity were analyzed to find the effects on the forming quality.The station distance and forming velocity of five levels were designed with the uniform experimental design.Compared with the advantages and disadvantages of the orthogonal experimental design,the impact and influence law of the above two factors on the forming quality was found.(3)The die shear model of C-channel steel was built by three dimensional model and the local grid refinement was used in this model.The influence law of process parameters on section quality was discovered through the simulation and experiment.(4)The forming strain was measured with the method of non-contact strain measurement.The indicator of forming quality was given.Compared with the prediction results of the numerical model,the reliability of this model was verified.Moreover,the residual stress of C-channel steel was measured and the distribution law of residual stress was also found.The results of this paper provide an important theoretical basis for improving the forming quality of C-channel steel.
