With the development of mold manufacturing, nitrogen spring has a wide range ofapplications in metal stamping molding, automobile manufacturing, injection mold,mechanical equipment and other fields. At present, the domestic use of nitrogen springmainly relys on import, so the independent study and development of nitrogen springhave important theoretical significance and practical value of the realization of itslocalization and narrowing the gap between domestic and abroad.In this paper, taking a certain type of nitrogen spring as the prototype, explore thewall thickness’design method of nitrogen spring foundation -- cylinder, and then realizethe structure design and performance analysis, complete the design of nitrogen springseveral key parts. The main contents are as follows:(1) to cylinder body: the material, design pressure, design temperature and otherdesign parameters are determined, the failure criterion should consider is analyzed andgiven;the wall thickness is calculated by conventional design method of pressurevessel ,and the yield strength is analyzed by the finite element method.(2) the reason of the wall thickness values obtaining by the above-mentionedanalysis method can not meet the design requirements is analyzed, therefore the wallthickness is calculated anew by introducing the analysis design method, and the yieldstrength, fatigue strength and modal aspects are verified.(3) the main body structure scheme of nitrogen spring is identified, the structuredesign of the guide ring, piston rod, dynamic seal, sealing and safety valve and so onseveral key parts are completed.
