The steel-ball is one kind of metal products and industrial elements which is widelyused in metallurgy, electric power, coal, cement and other industrial sectors, primitivelyconsumed in bearing and ball-grinding machine. Main manufacturing methods of the steelball are forging forming method, rolling forming method, semi-solid forming method andlongitudinal rolling method. Each forming method has its advantages and disadvantages.The forging forming method have good quality rolled characters and low utilization ofmetal. The longitudinal rolling method is a new technology, which is not mature in manyfields. The tightness of the center of skew rolling forming ball is not better than the othersforming, but it has high utilization of metal.The purpose of the article is to make the product performance of the skew rolling ballbe predicted and controlled. It is refined and improved based on the original design ofrolling groove. The groove design is the key technology of the skew groove of the ballrolling. This article focused on the two-roll skew steel ball rolling technology, hasdeveloped the principle of the roll pass cavity integrity, described the method of designskew rolling, analyzed the basic principle of choosing parameters of roll, discussed the rollforming area convex edge and the cavity dimension calculation,φ20mm ball bearingsroll as an example, given details of the roll pass cavity volume parameter, completed molddesign.By using modeling software Pro/E to create the mold geometry model, using finiteelement analysis software DEFORM-3D to build roller system simulation model, Settingreasonable boundary conditions, the paper simulated two-roll skew rolling steel ballsprocess of rolling and verified the rationality of roll design. According to the theory of theplastic distortion of the metal, the principle of the roll pass cavity integrity is firstproposed, and the principles of the specific applications are introduced in the finishingarea. Rolling simulation results show that it can overcome the abuse that the metal flow isdifficult to be control in the skew rolling finishing-area.By simulating the metal forming process of ball rolling, the stress and strain distributions are presented from this simulation. By being analyzed the rolling force, it isfound out the reason why the heart of rolling become loose and the linking neck is abruptearly. It is discussed that the main defects of the rolling and the related faults of the rolling.And the appropriate solutions are proposed.
