As a basic part,the steel ball is widely used in bearing and ball mill.At present,there are three main methods of forming of the steel ball: upsetting,casting and rolling.With the advantages of high productivity,high material utilization rate and good quality of forming,the skew rolling ball has been widely recognized and applied in the industry.Currently,there are a lot of researches on the grooving of roll and the metal flow rule of the steel ball,but the research results about the technology of the skew rolling steel ball have not been much published.In this paper,the technology of skew rolling mill was studied,and the method of combining theoretical analysis,numerical simulation and experimental rolling was discussed.This paper expounded the motion between the roller and workpiece,and analyzed the principles and methods of adjustment about rolls and guide board in the rolling process.The paper and gave the skew rolling process with the rolling ?30mm steel ball as an example.By using Pro/E to construct the geometric model of roller and guide board and DEFORM-3D to simulate the process of steel ball skew rolling,and designed a new guide board according to the simulation results.On the basis of fully familiar with the use and the adjustment method of various agencies of skew rolling mill,the lead rolling was prepared and the slanting test was carried out.The suitable project of skew rolling process was ensured,and qualified balls were rolled out.The experimental results also showed that the shape and spacing of guide board affect the surface quality of radial ball billet;the roll angle influences the surface quality of balls;the roll spacing effects the deviation and roundness of the billet diameter.Finally,based on the simulation and experimental results,the causes of bad rolling phenomena are analyzed and the solutions are provided.The research results of this paper will provide experience and reference for the process design of skew rolling ball.
