In the system of automatic tool changer (ATC), the accuracy and stability of thetool have a direct effect on the stability and reliability of the ATC after overturning.So it is important to test the accuracy and stability of the mechanism, which overturnthe tool.According to the requirements of the control and detection system on the ATC,the general planning of the system was proposed. The system was composed by themotor control system which is on basis of Mitsubishi PLC FX1N-40MT and PC dataacquisition system which is on basis of VC and the mechanical platform.First, based on the structural features of the ATC and the rolling-over of the tool,the mechanical platform and trestle table was designed, on which we can test thelocation of the tool. The trestle table should be fixed in range of the movement ofmanipulator and tool.Second, the stepping motor control system was designed to drive the ATCwhich was on the basis of the Mitsubishi PLC FX1N-40MT. In the system, we usethe PLC to control the action of servo motor, as well as air cylinder and frequencyconverter, and then control the movement of the tool magazine and Manipulator. Atthe same time, a human machine interface based on KingView was designed, whichcan simulate the movement of tool magazine, besides, we can also input theparameter though the interface.Finally, data acquisition system was designed which was on basis of VC and PC.On it we can collect the data on real time and display it at the same time. Then wecan analyze the data acquired. Meanwhile we save the data which we collected.
