| The skew rolling is one part of the advanced manufacturing technology. It hasadvantages of high productivity, high material utilization rate, high product quality andlow cost, etc, compared with the traditional production process of steel ball. The skewrolling is the preferred method of production of steel ball. At present, the main factorsthat restrict promotion and development of skew rolling are Mannesmann destructioninside the ball and the complexity of forming regularity of ball. The paper conducts theresearch mainly in surface modeling of roller and forming process simulation of skewrolling ball and parameter optimization. The purpose is to get the law of deformation,the flow of metal and improve the internal quality of steel ball. The main researchcontents of the paper are shown as following:1. Modeling design of double-thread roller according to the diameter of ball and themethod of design of single-thread roller. The modeling design mainly contents thedesign of spiral pass on the surface of roller and the size of roller. The design of spiralpass on the surface of roller mainly contents radius of groove, length of groove, heightof convex edge, width of convex edge, helix angle of roll, etc. These parameters willdirectly affect the rolling process and the quality of steel ball. The design of size ofroller contents the diameter and length of roller and the design of bite section. Thepurpose of design is to make the bar biting more smoothly, the deformation andstress of ball more reasonable, the deformation and force of metal more reasonable,and then improve the internal quality of ball.2.Obtaining the reasonable value of parameters by the method of gradually thinningscreening with finite element simulation software. In the condition that otherparameters remain unchanged, simulating the change of the ball’s internal stress andstrain with different cross angle using the finite element simulation software DEFORM.And analyses the law of effect on internal stress and strain by the cross angle, then thereasonable cross angle can be obtained.3. Using DEFORM to simulate and analyze the internal stress condition and the quality of ball in the condition that only the rotational speed is changed, then the stressof ball, the flow velocity of metal, the deformation of metal and the effect of rotationalspeed on ball quality can be obtained.4. Analyzing the size of influence of the main rolling parameters on internal stress ofsteel ball with the method of orthogonal experiment. And the best factor combinationcan be obtained and the best factor combination is verified, then the internal stress ofball is reduced greatly. The results provide theoretical basis for solving problem ofball’s internal quality in actual production. |
