Recently, with the rapid economic development, people’s living standardsgradually improved. The sharp increase in municipal solid waste has become animportant source of environmental pollution in cities, which is listed as one of thethree major environmental problems. The ultimate goal to solve the garbage problemis recycling, reducing and reusing. Landfill, composting, incineration andcomprehensive utilization are widely used.The city Songyuan is divided into Jiangnan District and Jiangbei District by thesecond Songhua River. In the Jiangbe District, there is a waste disposal site with thescale of200t/d, however, it can only solve the problem of Jiangbei District. As withthe Jiangnan District, the urban infrastructure for environmental health is weak. It isimpossible to achieve harmless. Only simple landfill has caused seriousenvironmental problem. It is not in harmony with economic development and urbandevelopment, since it lack the science and plans.In this thesis, the production, growth trend and satus of garbage were invested asthe basic work. It focused on the natural conditions, climatic conditions, geologicalfeatures and other features of Songyuan City. The economic strength, investmentcapacity, proposed site condition, waste composition and environmental requirementswere considered, combined with the relevant state industrial policies and overallplanning assumption. The landfill process was chosen to solve the waste disposalproblem of Songyuan Jiangnan District.Based on the terrain of Songyuan, potholes landfill site was chosen and districthierarchical practice style was designed. Intercepting trench and groundwaterconductivity facilities were designed. The high density polyethylene impermeablemembrane (HDPE) with1.5mm thick was chosen as impervious material. The bothsides of impermeable membrane was protected, respectively, using bentonite blanketand polyester filament geotextiles. In this design, the vertical gabion well and leachatediversion layer were combined with the exhaust layer, then the landfill gas wasdischarged to combustion towers for burning through pipeline, in order to reduce the harm on the surrounding environment. The landfill leachate was collected by thehorizontal and vertical collection systems, and then treated by two DTRO processbefore discharge. At the same time, the roads, drainage, constructions, heatingfacilities, greening and other ancillary facilities were designed. The area is closed andreasonably arranged, which can reduce the environmental impact. The implementationof this project can provide an important safeguard for the improving Songyuanenvironmental sanitation and promoting the eco-city construction.
