Compared with the double toggle jaw crusher, the single toggle jaw crusher, which is named because of the complex swing of its moving jaw plate, has some advantages, such as high productivity and low energy consumption. Thus the single toggle jaw crusher is progressively replacing the double toggle jaw crusher, and is widely used in many industries.With the rapid development in computer hardware and software technology, design measures of the product mix have been improved unprecedentedly. The parametric design philosophy is widely used in the mechanical parts design. Now the jaw crusher design has become mature, which belongs to variable parametric design, and namely, the new design object keep similar to the original one, and the main difference between them is parameters in parts.Pro/ENGINEER,3D engineering design software, which is developed by PTC company, is completely based on parametric design modeling philosophy. It can realize the parametric design of product mix excellently, incarnate design intent of engineering technician well, and also provide strong weapons for the structure design and analysis of mechanical parts. With this software,3D model could be combined with parametric design effectively, which provides a good way to design and develop jaw crusher.Taking the small jaw crusher used in laboratory as the initial model, this paper puts forward the design method about a new-type jaw crusher, based on the parameterized modeling of the whole machine, ANSYS modal analysis of eccentric shaft, interaction between early material and moving jaw plate and motionless jaw plate, and the study of the basic flow characteristics of initial crushing particle in crushing cavity. The main work of this paper is as follows:(1) This paper analyses the present situation and design limitations of jaw crusher in domestic, and takes the small jaw crusher used in laboratory as the initial model whose structure parameters and main performance parameters are calculated and analyzed. Then, we put forward the design method about a new-type jaw crusher.(2) Using existing survey data of the small jaw crusher used in laboratory, we realized the complete machine parametric design of jaw crusher successfully with the help of the skeleton module of Pro/E with top-down design function. Moreover, by this method we can make a comprehensive survey on the whole design situations in the layout. Meanwhile, parts size can be changed by altering the size of skeleton, from which parts model modifying according to the parameters is achieved, and so the design efficiency is improved significantly.(3) Based on the design method about a new-type of jaw crusher, we modify the complete machine model created to make it match the theoretical calculated value. Meanwhile, calculate the speed of eccentric shaft of jaw crusher accurately to determine the type of electromotor selected, and also calculate and analyze the V-belt drive and the flywheel.(4) With the aid of the powerful function of ANSYS finite element analysis software, the eccentric shaft of the modified complete machine model is used in modal analysis and we get the first six natural frequency and relative vibration mode, from which we can make sure that the eccentric shaft of jaw crusher is rolling with no resonance in a safe range. Moreover, they also provide basis for the choice of motor parameters.
