Jaw crusher has many advantages such as simple structure, high productive efficiency and convenient maintenance so it is widely used in mine, coal, chemical industry and the others. The development of computer technology has greatly promoted the advanced design method and the rapid development of the manufacturing stage for the jaw crusher in the past few years. Virtual product which is quick and easy plays a very important role in the market where the product is replaced more and more quickly. Parameterized designing technology is not only indispensable in the process of research and development, but also is the development trend of computer aided design.At present because of the defects consist in the Bottom-Up design and CAD modeling system, this paper adapts the Top-Down design method to design the components of the product on general assembly condition. Modeling technology based on parameterization can well reflect the design concept and ideas of the designer and at the same time it is more quick and convenient to find and modify interference parts in time to make sure the accuracy of the relationship between components. This paper’s topic is to improve the rapid variant and parameterized design of the product, to research the parameterized design method for the jaw crusher based on Pro/E platform and to conduct the finite element analysis for key parts.The main points discussed about in the paper are the following several aspects:(1)The paper expounds the composition of the jaw crusher and the main types of jaw crushers and elaborates the limitations at the present stage in the design of the jaw crusher. Then lead to the Top-Down design, a new design concept.(2) The paper illustrates the concept、the development history and the advantages of the top-down design method and further research the assembly features and assembly relationship in assembly environment based on CAD system. Then it leads to the structural model tree concept which is based on the hierarchy expression of the product structure to make the complex internal structure of the product simple and clear.(3) Making the compound pendulum jaw crusher as the prototype, using the experimental data from surveying and mapping and the top design and establishing the relationship model of the main frame and the son to pass down information achieve the goal of the parameterization of the parts themselves and with each other and complete the three dimensional design model. Also the interference analysis is carried out at last.(4) Making the eccentric shaft of the machine and the movable jaw as the research object, modal analysis of the eccentric shaft is carried out based on the ABAQUS platform to verify whether frequency reaches a critical value. The static analysis of the moving jaw is to verify the rationality and the accuracy of the new design method.
