Increasing of the development and utilization of resources and the environment resulted from the intensitively growth of material needs of human society, leads to world ecosystem suffering serious jamming, which is also threatening ecological security. As the foundation of sustainable development, ecological security is the three interaction forms of economy, society and ecology with important status. Urban eco-system is a very important ecological systems on global scale, as well as an important gathering place of human activity, which receives the most severe humanity disturbs. It will take a long period to restore for region ecological security once it suffers the threat or destruction; therefore it has vital practical significance to carriy out research on urban eco-security-related in the current background of global change. Currently, ecological security is no longer the local issue, but the global problem, which urgently awaits the world to face together with the solution. The paper, taking Wuhan as an example, establishes evaluation index system using PSR model to assess ecological security of Wuhan in1997-2009. Datas like statistical information, land using data, bulletin resources are used in this paper to construct28indexes, combining three time point remote sensing images of1997,2005and2009. This paper obtains results of ecological security value, ES value annual gradient and time-space distribution, meanwhile it has analyzed ecological footprint of Wuhan in1995-2009at the point of ecological footprint. We conclude that:(1) Capital ecological footprint of Wuhan from1995-2009increased year by year, which increased from2.560hm2/P to3.453hm2/P, with the rate of34.99%, while being decreased of capital ecological capacity, ecological deficit is increasing from2.421hm2/P (in1995) to3.194hm2/P (in2009).(2) Temporal change of ES value of ecological security in2009(0.5387) is higher than the previous year of2005(0.5111) and1997(0.4907), of which average annual rate of ecological security value change is0.5166%in1997-2005,1.3494%in2005-2009and0.8128%in1997-2009. The increase of ecological security value of Wuhan means that Wuhan’s environmental quality is getting better and better in13years and shows the enhancement of self-regulation and anti-jamming capability of Wuhan’s ecology.(3) Spatial change of ES distribution regularities level II maily locates in surrounding regions like Hannan and Jiangxia, level III locates in central regions like Qingshan and Jianghan, namely, areas of Frequent human activities and density population; level IV maily locates in Qingshan(1997). This indicates that the population increase and economic growth of Wuhan intensifies ecological security, eco-safe, and lower ecological security value. Hills in North-South, plain and Low Mountain in central city and the western area, domestic rivers and rich of water resources makes good environmental, which is the main reason of higher ecological security value. We draw a conclusion that Wuhan’s ecological security aggregate level difference mainly is affected by the natural condition and the regional superiority difference.
