There are a large of high concentration phenol wastewater that is produced during the pyrogenation of Shale Oil. It will bring serious environmental problem if the phenol wastewater was discharged driectly without any treatments. So it is difficult for the the spread of industrialization of Shale Oil. Phenols is organic pollutant while it is also the organic chemical material. So the aim of dealing with phenol wastewater is to recycle the phenols.Shale Oil phenol-wastewater that was produced by pyrogenation of Liushuhe oil shale at490℃with solid heat carrier method was analysed and replaced by phenol and methyl phenol simulation wastewater. In this paper Aspen Plus software was used, NRTL equation as modle equation (the model parameters were corrected by detailed data of phase balance experiments) in order to research the effect of cresol on phenol extraction yield.TAME and Butyl Acetate were chosen to extract phenol and cresols at different temperatures (20℃、25℃、30℃、35℃) and different phase ratios of wastewater and extractant (5:1、3:1、1:1、1∶3、1:5) from the simulation wastewater of Liushuhe oil shale retort wastewater. The results indicated that Phenol extraction yield decreased in the presence of o-cresol, m-cresol and p-cresol in simulation wastewater solute than in the absence of them and Phenol extraction yield showed maximum when phase ratio is3:1. When the solute is the mixture ofphenol and-o-cresol, the extraction yield of phenol are0.9702and0.9623respectively at20℃and phase ratio3:1with TAME and Butyl Acetate as extractants. The effect of m-cresol on phenol extraction yield was bigger than o-cresol,and the effect of p-cresol was the least at the same conditions. The extraction effect was compared during the process flows of crosscurrent extraction and countercurrent extraction. At the same time, extraction tower was researched at different phase ratio, temperature, number of plates, plate efficiency with Aspen Plus. The optimum conditions were obtained by means of simulation with Aspen Plus. At the optimum conditions, phenol wastewater with phenol, o-cresol, m-cresol and p-cresol was extracted by Butyl Acetate, the results indicated that phenol concentration of final wastewater was up to the standardand and p-cresol concentration dropped to0.000947mg/L.
