Renewable resources become dry and the white pollution bring people persecution,which make people’s energy development to, the most abundant renewable resources,cellulose that has different characteristics after processing,which can meet different needs of the various industries.The functionalization of cellulose functional materials has become to a trend and the hot spot of natural polymer materials research. A new type of thermoplastic elastomer was synthetized by modifying cellulose material with maleic anhydride, which showed well on cation absorption and tackifier.First, Ethyl cellulose monoester of maleic acid was synthetized in the way of Solid-Phase grafting and solvent method.The craft of synthesis was disscussed.For the Solid-Phase grafting,the ideal amount of maleic anhydride was12%,4hours and373K were perfect.If the synthesis was carried out in the solvent,10%of Maleic anhydride was well in6hours in the363K.The molar ratio of catalyst(anhydrous sodium acetate)to maleic anhydride was1:1.Then, microcrystalline cellulose monoester of maleic acid was synthetized, the best expermental conditions for Solid-Phase grafting methed were as followsrthe mole ratio of Maleic anhydride to microcrystalline cellulose6:1,reation temperature110℃,reaction time4h. The best conditions for Ionic liquid [AMIM]C1grafting were as follows:the scale ratio of Maleic anhydride to microcrystalline cellulose5:1,reation temperature100℃,reaction time4h.It was proved by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) that maleic anhydride were grafted onto Ethyl cellulose molecular link in the way of maleic ester.lt was demonstrated that the wavelength of maximum absorption of modified cellulose was bigger than the original cellulose. SEM photographs of cellulose and its chemically modified form told us that chemical reaction took place on the cellulose surface.The result of Thermogravimetric curves and Molecular Mass Determination explained that molecular structures were changed with the reaction taking place.The expected thermoplastic elastomer was synthetized,and its application value was discussed from two aspects. The carboxyl groups and carbonyl groups imported onto the cellulose surface formed coordination centers,through the inverse solvent method into the ball,which had strong adsorptivity to heavy metal ions especially bivalent heavy metal ions.The adsorptivity of modified cellulose was proved by the adsorption isotherms of Co2+and Ni2+on the chemically midified cellulose surface. Its adsorptivity of Co2+and Ni2+could reach1.75mmol/g and2.40mmol/g, respectively,in the ideal experimental condition,which was proved with thermodynamic calculations.The thermoplastic elastomer synthesis has the good physical properties as strengthening agent was introduced adhesive can very well to improve its mechanical properties,which get the proof through the plywood mechanical properties test. With the help of carbonyl groups and hydrogen bond, the modified cellolose boost the bonding strength of resin glue from0.23Mpa to0.54Mpa,which was helpful to the dry strength and controlling formaldehyde.
