With the development of the textile industry, the fabric and looms are diversified. Andthe problems of selvage forming become more prominent. At present selvage research onlyfocus on mechanical and design. As for selvage weaving specifications, it mainly dependson experience and lack of a systematic research. For this, the paper analyzes the rules ofselvage and fabric based on the real weaving specification data.Based on classification of silk fabric, silk woven fabric information system isestablished with VB.NET as the development language and SQL2005as backgrounddatabase. The system includes several modules of user login, fabric informationmanagement, information analysis, comparison of information and selvage design. Thefabric information management module includes functions of information query, delete,modify and add. It could timely update of database information. Information analysismodule provides selvage warp density coefficient and selvage tightness coefficient used tomeasure the connection between selvage and inner fabric. Based on the thousands of silkfabric specifications information of database, the system can calculate the selvage warpdensity coefficient and selvage tightness coefficient of different kinds of fabric withprogram designed by myself. At the same time, the coefficient of different fabrics can becompared in comparison module. Based on the data provided by the system, we discussedthe distribution of selvage warp density coefficient, as well as selvage tightness coefficientof various types of silk fabric, which can provide reference for fabric design. Relying onthe corresponding program, we design the selvage aided design module based on selvagetightness coefficient. In this module, the system will calculate the range of selvedge warpdensity and warp number after inputting corresponding fabric parameters.The development of this system can be an effective tool of textile informationmanagement and product development for the textile enterprises. Because of scalability ofthe database system, it can also be used for analyzing other fabric parameters such as fabricstructure range, fabric shrinkage and so on. It can also be associated with enterprise management system or web development tool to improve the system ability of application.
