In this paper, based on Aspen Plus, the simulation flow-sheets of coal drying andgasification process have been established and tested. On these bases, we havesimulated and calculated the coal drying process of Shaerhu coal and the coalgasification processes of Zhundong, Shaerhu and Yili coal.In this paper, we simulated and calculated the coal drying of Shaerhu C8coaland investigated the influence of the drying medium and the water content of hot airon the temperature of the dry coal, and obtained optimal operating conditions to attainthe operational requirements. The results show that drying medium and the watercontent of hot air have little effect on the temperature of dry coal, but at a high flow ofdrying medium, its temperature has great effect on the temperature of dry coal.We tested the simulation flow-sheet which established by Aspen Plus by elementconservation, calculation of the equilibrium constant and literature data. Oursimulation results match literature results well, which can demonstrate the reliabilityof the simulation flow-sheet.We simulated coal gasification processes of Zhundong、Shaerhu C8、YiliD29-367、D29-368and D29-369coals by using coal gasification simulation flowsheet established, investigated the influence of pressure, heat lost, O/C, H2O/C andinteraction between these factors, and obtained optimal operating conditions. Singlefactor simulations show that O/C and H2O/C have great effects, pressure and heat losthave little effect on the results of coal gasification. Orthogonal simulations show thatO/C and H2O/C are important factors, but for the coal coalification degree of which ishigher, interaction between O/C and H2O/C plays more important role than the O/C,H2O/C and pressure. For the coal coalification degree of which is lower, theinfluences of H2O/C and gasification pressure become more important. For the coalsin different regions, the optimal operating conditions are different.The simulation results of Zhundong、Yili D29-369、Yili D29-368attain the requirements of Shell gasifier about outlet temperature and synthesis gas content. ButShaerhu C8and Yili D29-367don’t attain these requirements.
