Ferrocene organometallic compounds attract much attention because of their unique performance in nonlinear optical materials, magnetic materials, liquid crystal materials, and burning rate catalyst etc. Ferrocenyl β-diketone, as important intermediates in organic synthesis, easily coordinate with metal ions to form complexes, which became the research hotspot in the field of coordination chemistry.In this paper, diferrocenyl unsaturated β-diketone (1E,6E)-1,7-ferrocenyl-1,6-diene-3,5-dione) was perepared by using ferrocenecarboxaldehyde and acetylacetone as starting material, and a series of ferrocenyl unsaturated β-diketone with long chain alkoxyl were prepared by the condensation of long chain alkoxybenzaldehyde and ferrocenoylacetone. The new unsaturated β-diketones were fully characterized by IR,1H NMR,13C NMR, MS, and elemental analysis, then coordinated with transition metals Cu(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ) to form complexes. Both the ligands and complexes have good electrochemical and burning rate catalytic properties, but do not have liquid crystal properties.
